Melbourne is arguably the home of live music in Australia, so it’s only fitting that we are getting a special event to acknowledge the power that female musicianship has in shaping the local music scene.

Music director and violinist Xani Kolac has collected an impressive ensemble of female instrumentalists for one-night-only celebration Stand by Your Woman.

Vocal powerhouses Kate Miller-Heidke, Tim Rogers, Kate Ceberano, Tex Perkins, Jen Cloher, Steve Kilbey and Harry Angus will appear as guests during the showcase.

The singer-songwriters will perform rearranged versions of their original songs with Xani’s all-female band, which features a rhythm section, a string quartet, a four-piece horn section and two backing vocalists.

Clio Renner, Claire Cross, Kathleen Halloran, Maria Moles, Sarah Curro, Biddy Connor, Melanie Robinson, Charlie Woods, Cheryl Durongpisitkul, Savannah Blount, Ellie Lamb, Olivia Nathan and Jacinta Caruana will combine their talents for a joyous musical journey.

Produced by the minds responsible for RocKwiz, The Last Waltz Revisited and Last Night When We Were Young, the performance promises to be unforgettable.
