One Plus Piece

THE VIBE

Japanese anime and American diner smarts collide in this relaxed suburban cafe.

THE DECOR

Homages to the Japanese anime One Piece adorn the walls, and interesting touches – including a giant plastic hamburger – add to the diner feel.

THE CROWD

Locals drop in to try the newest brunch special or go with one of their faves, while friends from further away come to see what the fuss is about.

THE FOOD

The menu is inspired by Japanese cuisine and American diner food. Toasties and burgers feature, with all the fillings you can think of. Inventive dishes, such as Sanji’s eggs benedict – braised beef inside a waffle with shredded apple – are just strange enough to work.

THE DRINK

Coffee, Japanese matcha tea, smoothies and milkshakes.

THE VERDICT

Weird and wonderful – a must-try.
