Everybody loves a burger. And if you don’t, well, this may change your mind. To celebrate the AFL finals kicking off, two of Melbourne’s best-loved burger joints have put together footy-themed creations to get you into the spirit.
St Kilda Burger Bar at The Grosvenor Hotel
- 10 Brighton Road, St Kilda East
First up is St Kilda Burger Bar at the Grosvenor Hotel. The team have put their thinking caps on and come up with something rather ingenious – a burger crossed with a meat pie. Yep, the Greedy Sheedy (named after for Bombers coach Kevin) is all burger business on the bottom and pie party on the top – with a classic Angus patty, bacon, cheese and a slow cooked beef pie.
- Corner of Clarendon Street and Crown Riverside, Southbank
Next is from the team over at The Merrywell, who have created three burgers to really get you behind your team, and a charity at the same time.
Each burger is decked out in the colours of the three Melbourne teams who made it to the finals. Richmond fans can get into The Yellow and Black burger, which is all about the beef patty, double cheese and a charcoal bun.
The Don burger is one for the Essendon supporters with Wagyu beef, bacon, onion rings and a limited edition JD whiskey barbecue sauce.
Cats’ fanatics can get into the Carnivore’s Feast Burger with a beef patty, double bacon, egg and the Merrywell’s sauce.
