The Weekly Review

As the clocks go forward this weekend and we are reminded that it’s time to replace the batteries in the smoke detectors, it’s also the time to think about stocking up the fridge for the long, warm evenings ahead.

This wine is truly Australian, and I reckon there’s a sense of pioneering spirit in every glass.

Destination aside, I reckon there’s only one thing to look forward to on a plane trip – unwinding with a glass of wine as time in the air ticks by. Ever wondered who chooses the wine that’s served on planes? And why the wines were chosen?

Every year there’s talk of heading to Launceston to watch a Hawthorn game and I’ve always resisted the temptation, but as soon as next year’s AFL fixture is released it will be me making the booking. The reason for my change of heart? The Tamar Valley Wine Route: 35 cellar doors along a 200-kilometre circuit. I might not make it to the Hawks match.

Have you ever thought how great the life of a winemaker would be? The cellar would never be empty and the lifestyle of wine, travel and food would be nothing short of glamorous. The reality of being a winemaker is usually quite different.
