From Fred Astaire to Lady Gaga, dancing is so liberating. It’s all about letting your inhibitions melt away and being entranced by music, laughter and joy. The feeling of being invincible and on top of the world so suits the festive season.
For me it is a time to share, love and indulge. When I set out to style this shoot for the end-of-year cover story, all that rang in my ears was “let them sparkle” and “let’s dance” – foot-tapping buoyancy with a good dash of specialness.
I see all around me that the sense of occasion is fading, so this season wrestle your urge to go casual and to blend into the crowd and instead add a dash of sparkle to everything you wear.
Men, wear suits with a hint of shimmer or shot, as they say in the business, and women, dip yourself in sequins and all things sparkly. Make measured opulence and decadence the order of the day.
I really don’t care if you hum to Jennifer Warnes’ and Bill Medley’s version of (I’ve had) The Time of my Life or the Black Eyed Peas’ reworked The Time (Dirty Bit) while dressing; all I ask of you is take a chance, smile broadly, delve into the world of fun, and wear your dancing shoes and sparkle.
