TWO city girls have stolen the limelight from their country cousins at the Royal Melbourne Show, dominating equestrian competition in the event’s first week.
Strathmore’s Alice and Lilli McEvoy, pictured with Alice’s horse Grazier, cleaned up in the riding events.
Lilli won the Under 18s competition and Alice the Under 14s category.
Alice was also Reserve Champ in the across age group junior category.
Then in the Turnout events Lilli won the KG Luke perpetual trophy for the best rider in the 15-18 year category.
Alice was the Reserve (second place winner) in the Pemberton trophy for 12-15 year olds.
Alice also won first place in a category called Hest Hat, for the best horse and Lilli came second.
The girls’ love for horses started with visits as youngsters to horse-riding relatives in Deniliquin.
