South Melbourne Street Fair Launch Party

The who’s who of South Melbourne mingled on Southern Cross Austereo’s rooftop in the heart of Clarendon Street for the launch of Scout About: The South Melbourne Street Fair. A balmy summer evening helped set the party vibe, while guests, including the South Melbourne Business Association committee and members, retailers involved in the street fair, City of Port Philip representatives and radio identities, were entertained by High Fidelity and the Glee Club Choir. The Street Fair took place Sunday, February 19 in Coventry Street.

American Australian Association Benefit Dinner

More than 600 guests combined at the American Australian Association’s 2012 Benefit Dinner at Crown Palladium to formally honour Jac Nasser AO and Lindsay Fox AC. Victorian Premier Ted Ballieu, Bill Kelty AC, former prime minister Paul Keating and the US Ambassador to Australia, Jeffrey L Bleich, gave tributes to honour the extraordinary achievements of Nasser and Fox. Financial journalist Alan Kohler hosted the evening, while Kate Cebrano and the Qantas Choir, led by musical director Chong Lim, provided musical entertainment.

Five hundred of Australia’s most influential women came together for Cool Australia’s Love Your Planet Valentine’s Day luncheon at Myer Mural Hall. Hosted by Getaway’s Catriona Rowntree, guests were treated to a beautiful vegetarian lunch while keynote speaker Debby Cox, from the Jane Goodall Institute, gave an insightful speech into the incredible progress Jane Goodall and her team have achieved for wildlife and the environment. Jason Kimberly’s Cool Australia is dedicated to teaching our younger generations about the importance of sustainability and protecting our precious environment.

Australia’s fashion A-list gathered in the grand lobby of 101 Collins Street to celebrate the opening of the new Cartier Melbourne address. Spice Girl Mel B, model Rachael Finch, lord mayor Robert Doyle and fashion designers Yeojin Bae, Toni Maticevski and J’Aton were just a few of the famous faces floating around the crowd of guests who sipped French Champagne and dined on canapés.

Dandelion Vietnamese New Year

Lobster rolled in sticky rice, whole roasted suckling pig and freshwater prawns braised in young coconut juice were just a few of the mouth-watering items on the 2012 Lunar New Year menu at Dandelion in Elwood over the weekend. Guests welcomed the Year of the Dragon with Vietnamese dancing lions, believed to bestow prosperity and happiness, and firecrackers to ward off evil spirits, all the while indulging in an eight-course feast prepared by Geoff Lindsay and Jerry Mai.
